I’m Daniel Sirz. I build secure cloud software and help teams ship it.
Software architect at Caterpillar Energy Solutions in Mannheim, with almost 20 years in software development, consulting and architecture. My work sits where cloud architecture, cybersecurity and people meet.
The photo is from August 2011, a scorching summer day at the photographer’s. I look like a confident businessman, but back then I honestly had no idea where my career as a consultant would take me.
It all started in logistics. While finishing my degree in software and internet technology, I built a track and trace system at Intertrans in Ludwigshafen. Eight years of consulting followed, at syscovery, BridgingIT and CAIRO: countless projects and customers, lots of SharePoint and .NET, and some of my first steps on Azure. Those years taught me to understand a business quickly and to deliver when it counts.
In 2016 I moved to Caterpillar. I wanted to grow with one product and one team instead of starting over with a new customer every few months, and I have never regretted it. Today my days are a good mix of architecture, security and hands-on development, with a team I can rely on and discussions that keep me sharp.
What I do
Cloud architecture
Microservice-based applications on Azure: containerized ASP.NET Core services, asynchronous messaging and clean domain models.
Cybersecurity
Member of the global cybersecurity program planning team. Vulnerability management, third party risk assessments and migrations such as Azure Front Door to a cloud WAF.
Technical leadership
Technical owner of several business-critical web applications. I translate business requirements for the team, handle escalations and keep impediments out of the way.
Enablement
Onboarding developers, consulting teams from other business units and building a network that makes collaboration across countries and cultures easy.

Planned and executed the repository migration from Azure DevOps to GitHub, built a cloud reporting platform with Power BI and replaced legacy tools with modern web services.

☕ Coffee is more than a morning routine for me. Under crema.vibes I share my passion for espresso and latte art.
🏐 Since 2018 I have been head of the volleyball department at TSG Seckenheim. In summer you will find me on the beach volleyball court, the rest of the year on the tennis court 🎾.
